Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Receives $25,000 Grant from Bank of America Charitable Foundation

Tarrytown, NY (March 3, 2008) — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester's Tarrytown Center was recently awarded a $25,000 grant by Bank of America Charitable Foundation in recognition of its efforts to educate and enrich the lives of area youth. The grant will be used towards the Center's Fun Club After School Program, an educational support program serving 100 at-risk boys and girls, ages six through thirteen.

"We greatly appreciate Bank of America's generous contribution to our organization," said Brian Skanes, executive director, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester. "Through trained staff within a safe, structured environment, the Tarrytown Center offers Fun Club members a range of valuable enrichment programs. This grant will help further our efforts."

The Tarrytown Fun Club After School Program provides services and activities designed to enhance academic performance, physical fitness, behavior and social interaction, community connectivity, leadership capabilities, and positive character traits. With a combination of recreational, academic, civic, and arts activities, the Fun Club supplies the basic "building blocks" of healthy development in young people.

"Bank of America believes in the value of investing in programs that enrich and advance the lives of our youth," said Margaret Preston, market executive for U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management in Westchester. "We salute the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester for their ongoing work and are proud to support their efforts to help create valuable after school programming for the community's at-risk youth."

Bank of America's contribution to the Center's Fun Club After School Program helps ensure that the program's resources will continue to be available to the children who need it most. In June 2006, the Tarrytown Center nearly closed its doors due to increased financial burden. The Center, which opened in 2002 at the Community Opportunity Center, serves approximately 600 children from low-income families. It provides a safe place to go after school, a warm meal, guiding hands, and a positive experience for its members.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester's Tarrytown Center is located at 105 Wildey Street, Tarrytown, NY. They can be reached at 914.586.0036 or by visiting www.bgcnw.com.
