Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Welcomes Four New Board Members

Mount Kisco, NY (October 31, 2008) – Kenneth E. Aldous (of Sleepy Hollow), Heidi B. Johnston (of Cross River), Scott Schaevitz (of Bedford Corners), and Susan Schaevitz (of Bedford Corners) have been selected to join the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester. The appointments were announced by Brian Skanes, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester.

Kenneth E. Aldous is Head of Litigation for BT Americas Inc., one of the world's leading providers of communications solutions and services. Prior to his current position, Mr. Aldous was an Associate Attorney at Proskauer Rose LLP. He currently serves as Chair of the Legal History committee, and a member of the Antitrust Law committee, of the New York City Bar Association. Mr. Aldous also has served as an Associate Editor of the American Society for Legal History’s H-Law ListServ since 2004, and he sits on the Advisory Board of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration. Mr. Aldous received a B.A. in Biblical Literature from Oral Roberts University, an M.A. in European History from SUNY Albany, and an Advanced Diploma in Local History from Oxford University. His credentials in the field of law include a Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School and a Postgraduate Diploma from King’s College London. He also studied to qualify as a UK solicitor at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice. Mr. Aldous resides in Sleepy Hollow with his wife, Kathryn Kitt Aldous, and their three children, Andrew, John, and Madeleine.

Heidi B. Johnston is Owner of The Yellow Monkey in Cross River, NY, which specializes in antiques, custom furnishings, home accessories, garden ornaments, and many one-of-a-kind items from around the world. Prior to The Yellow Monkey, Mrs. Johnston was Vice President of Design and Marketing for Scalamandre Silks and President of Baranzelli Silk Surplus. In addition to her board position at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester, Mrs. Johnston is also involved with the Westchester Land Trust. She attended Trinity College and received an Associates Degree in Interior Design from Rhode Island School of Design. Mrs. Johnston resides in Cross River, NY with her husband, David, and their two children, Sam and Zachary.

Scott Schaevitz is a Managing Director in Investment Banking for Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC. He has more than 20 years of experience in real estate investment banking. Mr. Schaevitz joined Wachovia Corporation, formerly First Union, in 2000, following eight years building the real estate investment banking business at Prudential Securities. He is a member of New York University’s Real Estate Institute Advisory Board. Mr. Schaevitz received a B.A. in Economics and History from Tufts University and an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University. He also studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Mr. Schaevitz resides in Bedford Corners, NY, with his wife, Susan, and their two children, Jake and Dillon.

Susan Schaevitz, a stay-at-home mother of two, was formerly Tax Manager of Neuberger Berman Management Inc., an investment-advisory firm headquartered in Manhattan. Prior to her position at Neuberger Berman, Mrs. Schaevitz was a Senior Tax Consultant for Ernst & Young, a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction, and advisory services. She is a member of the Northern Westchester Hospital Foundation Board and Outreach Committee Chair of Temple Shaaray Tefila. Mrs. Schaevitz also served as Co-Chair of the United Jewish Federation’s Young Banking and Finance Division. She received a B.A. in Economics from Westfield State College and a M.S. in Taxation from Suffolk University. Mrs. Schaevitz resides in Bedford Corners, NY, with her husband, Scott, and their two children, Jake and Dillon.

About the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester (www.bgcnw.com) was established in 1939 as a place for “boys to get off the streets.” It is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring and enabling young people, especially those who need it most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. The main unit in Mt. Kisco, NY is a 36,000-square-foot facility featuring an eight-lane pool, Child Care Center, gymnasium, games room, two computer labs and an additional 1,600-foot Teen Center facility. The Club has two satellite programs: a youth and teen center in the Yorktown Community Center; and a full service program at The Community Opportunity Center in Tarrytown, NY. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester serves 3,500 youths, boys and girls ages 6 months to 18 years, from more than 60 Northern Westchester communities. The Club has been ranked among the outstanding Clubs in the national network of Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
